Backend Developer

As Backend Developer, you will design and build high-performance, scalable microservices that power PhonePe's core payment systems and financial products. You will work on distributed systems handling billions of transactions, optimize for performance and reliability, and collaborate with product teams to launch new features. This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging technical problems at massive scale.

• Design, develop, and deploy robust backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
• Build high-throughput, low-latency APIs to support payment processing, wallet operations, and financial transactions
• Optimize database queries, caching strategies, and system performance to handle peak loads and ensure 99.99% uptime
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to maintain system health and reliability
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and mentor junior engineers

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in backend development with Java, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks
• Strong expertise in designing and building microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems
• Proficiency in databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and caching technologies (Redis, Memcached)
• Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
