About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead manufacturing operations at our Jamshedpur plant. This role involves overseeing production lines, ensuring safety and quality standards, optimizing processes, and managing cross-functional teams to achieve production targets.
What You Will Be Doing
- Oversee day-to-day production operations ensuring achievement of monthly production targets and quality standards
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to enhance efficiency
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environment standards, and ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 requirements
- Manage production planning, resource allocation, and coordination with maintenance and quality teams
- Drive cost reduction initiatives and optimize raw material consumption without compromising quality
- Lead and mentor a team of 50+ production staff including supervisors, operators, and technicians
What Tata Steel Is Looking For
- Minimum 10 years of experience in steel manufacturing or heavy engineering with at least 5 years in production management
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Industrial Engineering required; MBA in Operations preferred
- Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, furnace operations, rolling mills, and finishing lines
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt certification preferred), and TPM
- In-depth understanding of safety management systems, ISO standards, and environmental regulations
- Excellent leadership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Willingness to work in shift patterns and handle production floor operations hands-on
