Lead Backend Developer

As Lead Backend Developer, you will architect and build highly scalable microservices that power PhonePe's payments infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise in distributed systems and the ability to handle massive transaction volumes while ensuring reliability and security.

• Design and develop high-performance backend systems handling millions of transactions per day
• Lead architectural decisions for microservices and distributed systems infrastructure
• Mentor a team of backend engineers and conduct code reviews to maintain quality standards
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability through continuous monitoring and improvements
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features
• Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with financial regulations

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 7 years of backend development experience with expertise in Java, Kotlin, or Go
• Strong experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and message queues
• Proficiency with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and caching systems (Redis, Memcached)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and system design principles
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a high-pressure environment
